Our inaugural Samra Origins offering is an Exceedingly Rare coffee from world-class producer Wolde Faye Koricha. After tasting all the coffees from Ethiopia’s Cup of Excellence microlot competition, we were enraptured by the expressive flavor in Wolde’s creation.
We sourced this limited-run lot for our most high-end release and paired it with a collectible booklet featuring original Samra Origins artwork.

An Exceptional Taste of Tradition
Producer Wolde Faye Koricha’s commitment to tradition shows in his choice of processing method. The first coffee created was dried whole under the Ethiopian sun, so it’s only fitting that our first Samra Origins release is also natural processed. Wolde’s coffee ranked #7 in the most prestigious Cup of Excellence microlot competition and was our favorite from all of Ethiopia’s most exclusive lots.

The people and culture of this cherished place shaped Abel into who he is today. His love and respect for Ethiopia are rooted in traditions passed down to him by his mother, and her mother before her. Together we raise a cup to all that Ethiopia has given, and dedicate this project to Abel’s mother, Samra. May it serve as an ode to his family’s homeland.

The Mission
A Partnership with Purpose
More than 20 million Ethiopians need urgent food assistance. In honor of Samra Origins, Blue Bottle Coffee will donate to the XO Humanitarian Fund, administered by World Food Program USA, to support lifesaving emergency operations in areas around the world experiencing food insecurity, with a special focus on Ethiopia.
The number of Ethiopians who urgently require food assistance continues to grow. We believe addressing such a pervasive issue is a positive step towards nurturing future generations. We are immensely grateful for the immeasurable influence this country has had on our craft. Samra Origins exists to give back to coffee’s homeland.
