In northwestern El Salvador, close to the borders of both Guatemala and Honduras, is the beautiful, lush Buenos Aires farm of Metapán de Santa Ana. The coffee’s brilliance derives not just from this great terroir, the Bourbon and Pacas variety plants, and a particularly meticulous washing process – it largely results from the resilient work ethic of owner Alejandro Valiente. Alejandro has been singularly focused on continually upgrading his operation and successfully improving the livelihoods of his neighboring farmers in Metapán. He is one of the most inspiring people we know in coffee. Valiente proves as friendly in the cup as he does in person. Enjoy flavors of chocolate, toffee, and hints of plum.
