Uganda Sipi Falls Kaproron Honey
Mt. Elgon climbs toward the sky one plateau at a time, culminating in peaks that puncture the airspace of two countries: Uganda and Kenya. The former is one of the world’s largest coffee producers, not known for quality, and the latter, a paragon in the specialty world. But reputations, like geologic wonders, change. Years ago, Uganda’s Sipi Falls became the first certified organic wet mill on the entire continent. Now, their team of farmers, eight-thousand members strong, has captured the land’s potential by planting Kenyan cultivars and honey processing the cherry. The result is this coffee, as striking as Elgon’s own Olympian silhouette.
