Quilanga De Loja
Quilanga de Loja, sitting atop the Andes Mountains in Southern Ecuador, is home to some of the highest grown coffee in South America. Here, a handful of producers growing predominately heirloom Typica variety, hand-pulp, wash, and dry their coffee in backyard setups. The farms are small, averaging around 1.5 hectares, naturally shaded, and managed using organic methods. With the help of their cooperatives, Procafeq and Apecap, and the democratically run exporter, Fapecafes, these smaller quality-focused producers are able to share this coffee with us. Expect Quilanga de Loja to deliver a delicious cup with a prominent dutch cocoa flavor, rounded out with brown sugar and almond.
