On the northern shores of beautiful Lake Kivu in Nyamasheke, Rwanda, Kayijuka Alphonce began building Kanzu washing station in 2004. The mill was winning awards within its first year of processing. Seated in a lush valley, the contributing farms of Kanzu populate the three surrounding mountain peaks and also grow potatoes, peas, cabbage, wheat, and tea. Across the valley is the Nyungwe Forest, a mountainous rainforest long ago established as a national reserve. A beautiful bourbon varietal coffee expressing flavors found flourishing in the very best African coffees - Ruby Red Grapefruit, apricot, and caramel.
