Hacienda El Roble

Oswaldo Acevedo's Hacienda El Roble is an exceptionally beautiful and forward-thinking farm in northern Colombia. Their coffee trees are nourished entirely by compost enriched by manure from neighboring organic chicken farms and benefit from the shade of tens of thousands of native trees planted as part of a reforestation effort. El Roble employs a full-time agronomist to oversee the coffee production. Coffees are picked and processed separately, dried on multi-tiered raised beds designed to optimize drying conditions, and undergo rigorous quality control to provide a constant feedback loop to the agronomist. They maintain a coffee garden with dozens of rare and unusual varieties. Expect a bigger bodied, creamier. and mellower brew when contrasted with some of the more fruited coffees we've showcased from southern Colombia, with deep layered flavors unfolding in the finish. We love it.
