Our alleyway cafe in the Sagen-Chaya neighborhood recalls a time when the area was an outpost to Tokyo, known for its three teahouses. By now, the neighborhood (called Sancha by locals) has been absorbed by Tokyo itself. Energetic, creative, and defined by live music thrumming from unexpected places, Sancha’s small streets are made for meandering.
We think of our own cafe as a modern iteration of the original teahouses: A place to stop-by, morning or afternoon, for neighbors and travelers alike. Our full drip bar and espresso menu, along with food to enjoy in or take away, provide a moment’s reprieve—enhanced by the gardenview through the back window that casts leaf-shaped shadows on the terrace below.
